I have always had a love for food and knew that one day I would make food my career. After working in restaurants and travelling overseas, the desire to work in food nagged at me until I finally enrolled at the Capsicum Culinary Studio in Cape Town.
I completed my diploma in 2006 and started work at The Saxon Hotel in Johannesburg. There I worked under some great chefs and gained valuable knowledge and experience. Through my time there I found that my passion lay within the Pastry kitchen.
This led me to further my knowledge in Knysna where I attended a fabulous bread course with James Macquire at Gastronomica in 2007 and in 2008 spent a short period of time training at world renowned Ile de Pain on Thesen Island.
In January 2009 I took the plunge and started my own business, first out of my home kitchen and then on to the Northlands Deco Park where I have had my bakery ever since. The shop and the team have grown from strength to strength.
I believe in high quality products and in using only the best ingredients... no artificial flavourings or preservatives, no premixes and no short cuts! We aim to create the best freshly baked pastries, cakes, breads and cookies, focusing on old fashioned baking with a good pinch of personal touch... It’s just a part of our day, every day.
